How Rate Parliament works
The approval score
Signed-in visitors can rate each MP and senator as approve, neutral or disapprove. The score out of 100 is:
50 + 50 × (approvals − disapprovals) ÷ total votes
- Everyone approving gives 100 and everyone disapproving gives 0.
- Neutral votes count towards the total, so they pull the score towards 50.
- Everyone starts on 50. The score stays there until a politician has 10 votes, and the vote count is always shown.
One person, one vote
You sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email to vote. Each account gets one vote per politician. You can change it at any time, but you can’t vote twice. This is community sentiment from people who chose to take part, not a scientific poll.
Where the data comes from
Members, parties, ministers, shadow ministers and party leaders come from the Parliament of Australia’s Parliamentary Handbook, the official record. The site checks it twice a day and updates automatically when something changes. Last change: 19 October 2026.
